Studied chemistry at Macalester College, then spent five years teaching English at a public elementary school in a South Korean coastal town small enough to walk across — which I did every morning, up a hill, through a park, to the school.
Turns out both chemistry and teaching are the same skill software needs: decomposing complex things into pieces other people can use. Nine years building frontend platforms and developer foundations at startups in Portland.
How I work
Platform architecture
Drove a platform-wide navigation redesign across 112 files, consolidating fragmented product entrypoints into a unified sidebar system.
Cross-team foundations
Established a shared end-to-end testing foundation (Playwright, TypeScript) and CI visibility that reduced repeat UI regressions across US and India teams.
Cross-stack system design
Designed and implemented an end-to-end RBAC system across React frontend and Go backend, aligned with SOC 2 controls.
Engineering multiplier
Cut engineering onboarding ramp-up time by 50% through mentorship, process optimization, and structured support.
